Since Dr. Richard Dickey founded The Fertility Institute of New Orleans in 1976 it has grown to include four other physicians and a skilled staff of thirty.
We all care about our patients and are as delighted as they are with every pregnancy. Devoted to the care of infertile couples, The Fertility Institute was among the first such private fertility clinics in the United States.
Dr. Dickey, a board certified physician in Reproductive Endocrinology, made the decision to leave his position as Chief of the Reproductive Medicine Section of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Louisiana State University’s School of Medicine. Anticipating the increased problem of infertility in the "baby boomers", he wanted to provide a specialized place for diagnosis and treatment outside the realm of academic medicine.

The Fertility Institute is a Charter Member of the IVF Registry and of the Society of Assisted Reproductive Technologies. Our laboratory is certified by the College of American Pathologists.

Dr. Richard Dickey received his Ph.D. for studies of the neurohormones of reproduction, after completing the first special training program in reproductive endocrinology in the United States.
Before founding The Fertility Institute, he was Director of Infertility and Reproductive Endocrinology at Ohio State University School of Medicine and Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He is clinical professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at both LSU and Tulane Medical Schools, and Chief of the Section of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at LSU Medical School, New Orleans.
Diplomate, American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Fellow, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Member, American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Society of Reproductive Surgeons, American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, Pacific Coast Fertility Society. Dr. Steven Taylor is a former member of the faculty of the Tulane University Medical School. While there, he developed an infertility microsurgery program. At The Fertility Institute, Dr. Taylor became one of the first surgeons to perform laser surgery in the South. He has a special interest in treatment of endometriosis and uterine fibroids.

Dr. Peter Lu received his Bachelor of Science in Genetics from Cornell University, a Master of Science in Physiology from Georgetown University Graduate School, and his Doctorate of Medicine from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
Dr. Lu is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans where he is actively involved in the residency teaching program. Dr. Lu has a special interest in assisted reproductive technology (IVF and ICSI), and preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD).

Dr. Sissy Sartor is a graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine and completed a fellowship program in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Georgetown University in Washington D.C.
Prior to joining the Fertility Institute she was Director of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and Director of the Center for Fertility at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport. She has a special interest in polycystic ovarian syndrome, and the advanced reproductive technologies (IVF).
Diplomate, American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Fellow, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Member, American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Society of Reproductive Surgeons, Society for Reproductive Immunology Dr. Phillip Rye is a member of the faculty of Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He has special interest in the treatment of early pregnancy loss, immunological aspects of infertility, and the psychological aspects of infertility. He has special interest in the treatment of early pregnancy loss, menopause and nutrition.
Diplomate, American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Fellow, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Active Member, American Society of Reproductive Medicine, Society of Assisted Reproductive Technology, Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Dunaway is a graduate of Louisiana State University School of Medicine and completed a Fellowship program in Reproductive Endocrinology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston Texas. He was the founder and Medical Director of the Fertility and Laser Center, and decided to enter into a partnership with The Fertility Institute of New Orleans in 2002.
Over the years, Dr. Dunaway has held the position of Director of Reproductive Services for Baton Rouge General and Women's Hospital in Baton Rouge, and also Lakeside Hospital in Metairie. He is the past President of the Orleans Parish OB/GYN Society. Dr. Dunaway’s interest are varied with emphasis on the diagnosis and treatment of PCOS, infertility treatment through ART, surgical and medical management of endometriosis, and the surgical management of uterine anomalies. Dr. Dunaway distinguished himself by being one of only two individuals to achieve pregnancies by Direct Oocyte Sperm Transfer (DOST).
Diplomat, American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Fellow, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Active Member, American Society of Reproductive Medicine, East Baton Rouge Parish Medical Society, North American Menopause Society. Dr. Hayes is a graduate of Louisiana State University School of Medicine and began her practice in 1976. Over the years, Dr. Hayes has held the position of both Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Chief of Staff at Woman's Hospital. Dr. Hayes is a certified menopausal clinician. She has performed both local and national lectures on numerous topics, including perinatal loss, the pregnant athlete, osteoporosis and menopause.
Diplomate, American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Member, Greater New Orleans OB/GYN Society, Louisiana State Medical Association, Orleans Parish Medical Society. Dr. Farrell graduated from Louisiana State University School of Medicine and began his practice in New Orleans East in 1978. He has served as Chief of the Medical Staff as well as Chief of the OB/GYN section at Lakeland Medical Center. Dr. Farrell joined the Fertility Institute of New Orleans in 2005. He is available for complete gynecological care, with many services provided in our New Orleans East office.

Dr. Pyrzak received his Ph.D. in Reproductive physiology from Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Rehovot, Israel in 1983. Dr. Pyrzak completed his post doctoral fellowship in Reproductive Physiology and Molecular Biology at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina, 1986. Dr. Pyrzak has extensive experience with in vitro fertilization, cryopreservation of sperm and embryos, micromanipulation of sperm and eggs ICSI procedures, and laboratory evaluation of male infertility.
