DR. RICHARD DICKEY: Ovulation induction monitoring is the way that we follow the development of the follicles and eggs within the ovary so that we can determine the best time for relations, insemination, or in vitro fertilization. It's performed with ultrasound and with hormone monitoring. These are done at frequent intervals throughout the cycle; less frequent when we use the fertility pills and more frequent when we use the gonadotrophins. And it is essential to get the optimal results that we achieve with ovulation, induction, insemination and in vitro fertilization.
