DR. STEVEN TAYLOR: I'm Dr. Steven Taylor. I'm originally from New York. I moved to New Orleans in 1970 to pursue my medical education at Tulane University. Following my education I joined the faculty at Tulane where I started the fertility program at Tulane University Hospital performing the first tubal ligation reversal in the South in 1979.
In that same year I left Tulane and joined Dr. Dickey at the Fertility Institute where we started the first in vitro fertilization program in the South, one of the first in the country in 1983. We were also among the first programs to do laser microsurgery and since that time I have been at the Fertility Institute continuing to perform fertility procedures such as in vitro fertilization, as well as reconstructive surgery.
I think the best part of my work at the Fertility Institute is dealing with patients who very much want to have a baby, and of course it's a very rewarding experience when we are successful and we can then see the babies after they're born.
