DR. RICHARD DICKEY: Ovulation induction is a method to increase the number of eggs that are developing in the case of IVF or follicles developing in the case of intrauterine insemination. We at the Fertility Institute have had extensive experience in this and have many publications on the topic.

It can be done in both clomiphene cycles where we determine how many eggs or follicles are developing so that if there is an excess we know that there is increased risk of multiple pregnancy. If they're not enough, we know how to correct that in the future.

In IVF cycles, ovulation induction monitoring is done more frequently and is used to determine the optimum time for 8CG injection and egg retrieval to give us our high pregnancy rates.
